School Improvement Action Plan — Bryan Community Focus Program
This year, in response to a district-wide initiative, Bryan is participating in the Data Team process. First semester, teachers went through the steps to learn the process through a school-wide goal of increasing vocabulary connecting to the district goal of improving school achievement. Words common to the Bryan program were used with students to create a common language within our community. Teachers met in their data teams to assess their Homeroom students, and create strategies for students to move toward proficiency. Second semester, teachers will be expanding their understanding of the data team process and will be looking at their content area. Within their content areas, teachers will focus on the district goal to improve student achievement in reading comprehension using two different areas: improving vocabulary and close reading.
School Goal:
To increase reading comprehension and specific vocabulary for all Bryan students during the 2013-2014 school year.
